If you are on an electricity rate that includes a demand charge component, your home EV charging may impact this component of your electricity bill, whether you are in this pilot program or not. Automatic Smart Charging optimizes the energy costs associated with charging your electric vehicle and does not account for demand components of your electricity rate or home electricity usage from sources other than your EV charging.
That said, WeaveGrid will always prioritize charging you during off-peak times, if applicable, provided there is sufficient time to meet your mobility needs by your Departure time. Please consult How does Automatic Smart Charging Work? to learn more.
In general, we recommend disabling Low Battery Protection for rates that have a demand charge component, and this is especially true for drivers on the Family Dwelling - Demand rate, where the demand charges are assessed at specific hours.
